Conatus By Zola Jesus

Zola Jesus is not a singer; she is a musician. It has always been so. That is not to say the people who have helped her along the way were not deeply important.Conatus is a huge leap forward in production, instrumentation and song structure. It says it all in the definition of the title: the will to keep on, to move forward. From thumping ballads to electronic glitch, no sound goes unexplored on her new record. It is an icy exploration in refined chaos and controlled madness, an effort to break through capability and access a sonic world that crumbles as it shines.

Nevermind 20 Years

I was sixteen when Nevermind came out. I was so excited and I remember that I always was listening song after song while I was running to High School. Was a new era for everyone, was the Grunge Scene, where the heroin chic was so hot as Kate Moss and messy was the perfect background for fashion pictures as the Nan Goldin or Corinne Day ones. The leader of this new wave was Kurt Cobain with his band Nirvana formed with Novoselic and Grohl. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was the first single of the band and it became the soundtrack of this generation. Nevermind was and will be the begin for a gen and Kurt the legend of the movement.

Here is one of my favorite songs, well... I have some ones from the album. This is the third single from Nevermind. So hope you like it as much as me, jump as high as you can and be proud of holes in your jumper.

Into the halloween spirit!

I have to tell you all the secret I have been keeping... I'm pregnant!! I am about three months along now and we're so happy! This is one of the reasons I have not been blogging much. I just feel so blah! (The other reason being that I am now homeschooling two kids instead of one and it takes most of my time up.) I have to say that Halloween has me crafting again though!! Trent and I just finished painting the two vintage inspired pumpkin treat buckets last night!  We really love how they turned out!! September is totally a Halloween month for us! Wanna see our Halloweens past? Take a look here, here, and here!
